Are we actually capable of honest self-critique?
I very firmly believe that the answer to this lies in the ability to look at your work as you would anyone else’s… honest self-critique then proving to be a myth, as truthfully speaking, its fairly easy to pass objective and honest comments about work that is not entwined to your soul… but incredibly hard to accept criticism from an outside source let alone allow a single negative thought to thwart the best-seller potential you have built up in your mind!
That being said, I have spent all day at the Asian Festival of Children’s Content in Singapore and met the most encouraging, honest, down-to-earth and genuine bunch of people from not only Singapore but as far and wide as New Zealand, Australia, Bangladesh, India, Philippines, the United Kingdom and America.
Prior to beginning every single pitch today, I was incredibly nervous. A totally unnecessary angst asTGD has had a very positive excursion today. Its very first ‘field trip’ so to speak and as guardian of TGD, I have to diligently make contact with everyone who has requested the pdf, asked for a sneak peak and shown interest.
Here’s a big Cheers to all those lovely literati out there!
